You guessed it right! I am going to tell you about my soul dog❤️ My Cody Bear! Cody is a chocolate Labrador. A big lug of love.
And yes he is my soul dog! I have this amazing connection with him I can't describe. He understands me in ways that I cannot explain. I talk to him and he understands me. He looks into my eyes and I see sea of emotions. I see pure love. No demands no expectations, all he wants to do is give pure love. I cannot express how much I love him. The connection we had was very instant. Let me tell you in detail.
I have been living in USA since 2001. Before I moved to USA I was very afraid of dogs due to witnessing a traumatic incident. When we came to this country we became friends with this indian couple who had a pure breed mastiff dog. Because of the dog I avoided going to their house. On their insistence we went to their house. They knew I was afraid so they kept the dog in backyard in summer. He kept looking at me and had tears in his eyes. I couldn't believe it! I felt bad because of me he was outside in heat. I told my friend to bring him in but just make sure he doesn't get close to me. And as soon as my friend opened the door he rushed inside the house.
Straight into my lap. I was so scared. My friend told me to stay calm. I tried and eventually I calmed myself down. My friend gave me cookies to feed him and I fed him the cookies. That was the day I became best friends with him! Due to some security concerns we decided to adopt a dog! That's when we adopted my first dog a husky lab mix. She was very protective about me and saved me from some scary situations.
Few years later when our dog was about 13 years old another little terrier mix girl came to my life. She was just 3 years old when she tragically passed away. By then I was already divorced. I didn't want to adopt immediately because I was still mourning the loss of my dog.
Meanwhile my daughter and I used to visit a nearby adoption facility just to check out new arrivals. Through their website I found out that the adoption facility has few puppies up for adoption. My daughter and I decided to visit the facility and see the puppies with no intention to adopt. Before we can see the puppies we decided to roam around and look at other dogs. We came across a room with a dog named "Harvey". My daughter & I looked at the dog, our eyes met. And my daughter immediately said let's adopt him mommy. I looked at Harvey and I immediately agreed. We never looked at the puppies by the way 😀
We went to inquire more details regarding Harvey and how to adopt him. My daughter and I started discussing new name for Harvey.
We finished the adoption process. We brought Harvey home and were still discussing what to name him. Suddenly I thought of a name! Few days ago through Facebook I got the news of one of my gym trainer's sudden demise. His name was Cody. So I decided to rename Harvey. His new name is now Cody. From day one Cody and I have this unexplainable bond.
My Cody boy is now 8 years old. And still a lapdog and behaves as if he is still a puppy😄 Love my boy so much!
And that's the story of my son Cody! I hope you enjoyed. Tell me about your pets. I would absolutely love to listen to your stories. Have a wonderful weekend!
